Pre-Diabetes

It is estimated that around 83,000 people in West Sussex, aged 16 and over, are at a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.  However, it is possible to reverse this risk by making some lifestyle changes i.e. by eating well, being active and keeping to a healthy weight.

Your GP will tell you if you are at higher risk of diabetes and can refer you to the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme.

The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NHS DPP) is a nine month national programme delivered locally by Xyla Health & Wellbeing. Those referred to the service will receive tailored, personalised support to reduce their risk of Type 2 diabetes including education on healthy eating and lifestyle, help to manage weight and physical exercise programmes, all of which together have been proven to reduce the risk of developing the disease. You can find out more about this programme on the Preventing Diabetes website.
